The Kingdom of Cochin has a rich history dating back to the 12th century, evolving from the Perumpadappu Swaroopam dynasty. Over the centuries, it navigated alliances with colonial powers such as the Portuguese and Dutch, and faced challenges including invasions and natural disasters. The kingdom played a pivotal role in regional trade and cultural development, with its capital eventually established in Kochi. In 1949, Cochin merged with the Indian Union, marking the end of its monarchical rule. Today, the legacy of the Cochin royal family continues to influence the cultural and historical landscape of Kerala.

The Cochin Royal Foundation for Human Progress is dedicated to addressing critical challenges in Kerala and the neighbouring Tamil Nadu. Our mission focuses on disaster resilience, educational outreach, cultural preservation, and environmental conservation.

We provide disaster relief and preparedness programs, especially in vulnerable areas like Wayanad, support under-resourced border districts in Tamil Nadu with comprehensive educational initiatives, preserve Kerala’s rich cultural heritage through workshops and festivals, and promote environmental restoration through reforestation and sustainable practices.

By empowering communities, bridging educational gaps, and safeguarding cultural and natural assets, we aim to foster sustainable progress across the region.
